Future Planning Commission Appointments Taken From Mayor
The Washington County Commission voted to interfere with County Mayor Dan Eldridge’s legal authority to appoint members to the county’s Regional Planning Commission. The measure passed after rules were suspended and plenty of comment was heard. Eldridge believes the Planning Commission needs members with expertise in the fields of building and developing. Commissioners approved his recommended five professional appointees to a downsized Planning Commission. This vote will now change future appointments from the mayor to the chairman. (bg)
