Dead Twins Scam Revealed
A reported false pregnancy with twins has landed a 28-year-old Rogersville man in jail. Irvin Henry Murrell, III was charged along with his wife, 27 year old Courtney LaDawn Murrell. They are accused of claiming the twin pregnancy and then the death of the babies to scam donations for funeral expenses from co-workers and an acquaintance. Money was collected from fellow employees at Barrette Manufacturing and he allegedly took bereavement time from work. The couple actually showed ultrasounds and pictures of dead babies in working their scam. Trey Murrell remains in Hawkins County Jail in Rogersville. His wife is free on a $15,000 bond.(CS)
