Gate City Armed Robbery Arrest
Gate City town police officers aided by 2 K9 units made an arrest Thursday night in the armed robbery of Patriot Fuels/Wilderness Road Market on US Route 23. A 19-year-old homeless man was found hiding near a storm drain along with a backpack and other items described in the robbery. Dominique Parnell, whose last known address was Columbus Ohio, was arrested. Investigating officers believe Parnell's getaway car had been towed by Virginia State Police just prior to the holdup for partially blocking a lane of traffic on U-S Route 23. Officers recovered just over $900 in $20 bills and a pellet pistol from Parnell's backpack. He remains in custody with no bond.(CS)
