Carter County Mom Arrested in Connection With Son's Crimes
Her son has been in trouble several times, so now she’s been arrested too. Carter County Deputies arrested 45-year old Virginia Putnam Benfield for failing to control her son. Police say they’ve warned Benfield several times about supervising the teen after arrests for burglaries and vandalism. In fact, she was arrested twice in 2010 and again in 2011 for contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Most recently, Benfield’s son stole a truck and was involved in several burglaries in North Carolina. Benfield was arrested on child neglect charges and will be in court on June 24th. Her son will be in court on July 9th. (JH)
