Appy Trail Hiker dead
A 71-year-old man from Australia that was hiking the Appalachian Trail died after suffering a medical emergency. George Walls Grant was hiking the trail through Carter County when he flagged over a driver and asked to be taken to convenience store nearby when he starting showing signs of medical problems. The drive drove Grant to a rescue squad station where they transported him to Sycamore Shoals Hospital where he died. Authorities say there is no foul play suspected. Grant had his passport in his possessions, police say it looks like the man was a world traveling hiker. (CC)
