Several customers of Bristol Virginia Utilities lost internet service for several hours on Wednesday. The problem was that when the internet went down backup options should have kicked in but didn’t. Wes Rosenbalm with BVU says they are looking in to why the failure happened and why the backup plan failed.. “We just gotta make sure this equipment failure is taken care of moving forward. We have safeguards in place now, we’re just gonna have to improve those because this particular equipment failure, you know, there was safeguards there but they didn’t kick in as they were supposed to. Our guys are still looking into it and trying to figure out why the backups didn’t kick into place like they were suppose to and things of that nature." Rosenbalm says the outage only targeted certain areas in the city, while other customers had full internet connections. (CC)
