Brews at Sequoyah
The Sequoyah Council of the Boy Scouts will be hosting an event for outreach to boys in housing developments, after school programs, and in rural areas the may not get the chance to become a part of the Boy Scouts. The Trialblazer District was formed three years ago to concentrate on reaching boys like these. They will be holding a fundraiser called red, white, blues, and brews to help raise money for the event. The Boy Scouts stress that no one under 20-years of age will be allowed to attend the event. The move to have such an event is controversial since many with the Sequoyah Council have said during a recent decision by the national board to allow gay scouts in the organization that it supports biblical principles in scouting, most Christian religions frown upon the consumption of alcohol.
