Investigation Continues After Pedestrian Was Hit By a Train
Although no foul play is suspected, the Criminal Investigations Division of the Johnson City Police Department is investigating an accident involving a train. Police say 50-year old Lavern Wampler was hit by a train around 10:30 Saturday night on tracks owned by CSX Railroad near the Boys and Girls Club on West Market Street. Wampler was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials say the man is from Cherokee, Iowa, but had been in the area since 1999.
