Couple Arrested For Abusing 14-Month Old Boy
More charges are expected against a Southwest Virginia couple after police say they severely abused a toddler. Deputies conducting a welfare check on a 14-month old boy found him with two black eyes, bruising on his arm and a knot on his head. After being checked at Holston Valley Medical Center, the child had to be transferred to Tennessee Medical Center to receive specialized care. His mother, 22-year old Crystal Gail Smith is charged with felony abuse and neglect. Her live-in boyfriend, believed to be the abuser, 29-year-old Donald Wayne Snodgrass is charged with two counts of aggravated malicious wounding of a child, and felony abuse and neglect.
