Duffield Jail Expansion
Scott County officials have given the go-ahead for a jail expansion project at the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail in Duffield. The plans are to add almost 30-thousand square feet to be used to house inmates. A contractor has already been hired and is ready to break ground on the project. Duffield’s renovations are part of expanding three of the four Southwest Regional Jail facilities. The project will add just over 500-beds at the three facilities. Work could begin at any time, and is scheduled to be completed by January. (CC)
