Woman and Daughter Dead After Police Stand-Off
A Johnson County shooting victim remains in stable condition this morning after a weekend stand-off situation with police. 50-year old Mark Johnson was shot by his girlfriend 30-year old Heather Buchanan on Saturday night on McEwen Ranch Road. Johnson County Deputies arrived on the scene just minutes after 10 p.m., but the incident wasn’t over until nearly 12 hours later. During the hours between, Buchanan fired at the officers, took her 6-year old daughter and hid in the woods behind her home and then, according to police, committed a murder-suicide. Sheriff Mike Reese said they got a call around 9:00 on Saturday morning that Heather Buchanan and her daughter were dead in a neighbor’s driveway, both with gunshots to the head. The Sheriff’s Department says they’ll wait on autopsy results to officially confirm the murder-suicide.
