Sull Co. School Consolidation Off the Table
Facing budget issues, Sullivan County School officials have been working on scenarios to save money. In a very controversial move, Director of Schools Dr. Jubal Yennie suggested three plans – each including consolidation or closures of certain schools in the system. At last night’s meeting, the Board of Education decided to scrap those plans and try a new approach. The board hopes that by hiring a consultant by early next month, they’ll have a better understanding of the needs in the county school system which might help in future tough decisions. As of right now, board officials do not know the price tag for a consultant.
