Child Sex Charge
Promises of pennies and candy, and the threat of harm was how a Kingsport man now charged with child rape kept control of his victim. 25-year-old Michael Lee Bear was arrested Wednesday and booked into the Sullivan County Jail. The abuse happened of a one-year period starting in 2011. The child was 8-years-old when the abuse started. The abuse reportedly occurred at the home of a relative, when Bear enticed the child into a bedroom with candy, then told the child he needed something in return. That is when the victimís pants were removed and a sexual act performed. He then exposed himself. Bear then threatened to withhold candy and cause harm if the child told. Bear is held under a 40-thousand dollar bond. (CC)
