VI Officials Announce Future Merger
An announcement is expected within the next few weeks about a merger between two Virginia colleges. President of Virginia Intermont College, E. Clorisa Phillips sent an e-mail to college staff and alumni stating talks with another school have been going on for months. In August, Virginia Intermont lost an appeal to its accrediting agency. Phillips says she hopes the new merger will help improve their standing with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges and enhance the Moore Street campus all while keeping the Virginia Intermont identity.
