Bristol, VA Agency Awarded By the Governor
The city of Bristol Virginia Social Services Department is an award recipient from the governor. The city is among just several recognized by Governor Bob McDonnell in his campaign to increase adoption of children in Virginia’s foster care system. The campaign exceeded a goal of matching more than 1,000 children in foster care with adoptive families. This year, McDonnell secured $1.5 million dollars in new state funding dedicated to adoptive services. He announced last week also that his biennial budget will include $27 million dollars in new funding for initiatives to improve foster care and adoption. (LM)
