Former Board of Supervisors Candidate Arrested for Perjury
The hotly disputed military record of a former political candidate in Washington County, Virginia leads now to criminal charges. Former board of supervisors candidate Tim Mowery of Bristol has been arrested. Hes accused of perjury and other felonies for allegedly lying about his U.S. Army discharge seven years ago. Hes accused of using a fake or false document to obtain a concealed weapons permit, Sheriff Fred Newman said. While the investigation was underway, Mowery lost election in November to Vernon Smith. Mowery has posted three thousand dollars bond and is free pending court proceedings. (LM)
