Hawkins Child Death
A two-year investigation has led to the arrest of a couple in Hawkins County on charges of murder and child neglect. Police say in January of 2012 5-year-old Alexa Linboom was found unresponsive and taken to a local hospital. The girl was airlifted to Niswonger Children’s Hospital where she died two days later. Autopsy results show the girl died of water intoxication which caused water poisoning. That led police to rule the child’s death a homicide and arrest her father and stepmother. 41-year-old Randall Lee Vaughn and 58-year-old Mary Lavonne Vaughn are held on 500-thousand dollars bond each. Both will appear in Hawkins County court on Friday. (CC)
