Wellmont Hires Consultant for Partner Search
The same firm that advised Wellmont Health System to seek to align with a partner will be leading the search to find one. Wellmont announced the hiring of Kaufman Hall, saying it is one of the few firms in the country with the expertise needed to advise Wellmont. It is a strategic financial consulting firm and has been involved in other health care collaborations, in the face of what Wellmont calls “very strong headwinds of change.” Those include less demand for inpatient services, new payment methods under the federal health care reform act and the need for better efficiency. Wellmont maintains its current financial position is stable, it has no target or request for a merger yet, and it is on its own timetable. (LM)
