A Carter County judge decides to put former 6th grade teacher Kelly Smith in jail immediately for 90 days and suspend the rest of his two year prison sentence in favor of intensive probation. Smith, a former teacher at Hampton Elementary, must also register as a sexual offender. This after the 31-year old pleaded guilty to having sex with a former student when she was 16 and soliciting another former student at 13 years old. He stands convicted of aggravated statutory rape and solicitation of a minor.
