Neglect Victim Dies
A victim of elderly abuse who was hospitalized with malnourishment and dehydration has died. 75-year-old Deloris Shaffer was hospitalized for three weeks for the abuse she suffered at the hands of her granddaughter 25-year-old Kayla Watson. Sullivan County authorities say they have video evidence that Watson let her grandmother lay in the floor for over seven hours when she fell from the bed, and went upwards of 24-hours without providing any nourishment for the woman. Shaffer’s body will undergo an autopsy, and the Sullivan County District Attorney says more charges against Watson are likely. (CC)
