Prison Sentences Handed Down in Johnson City Murder
Gary Gilbert, already serving 25 years in prison in Virginia, was sentenced to 35 more for a related, second murder in Johnson City. Authorities say Gilbert intended to rob a man of drugs in Johnson City and ended up slitting his throat. Gilbert admitted two years ago he killed accomplice Natasha Collins, to silence her about the killing of Steven Rodriquez. Now heís pleaded to second degree murder in the killing of Rodriguez. Also, John Anthony Purcell pleaded guilty to being involved and was sentenced to 30 years in prison. Purcellís wife got probation.(LM)
