Roan Mountain Murder Investigation Continues
Two Roan Mountain teenagers are in jail for killing 56-year old Danny Vance. Carter County Sheriff Chris Mathes says 18-year old Anthony Lacey and 19-year old Demetrice Cordell confessed to robbing and murdering the victim. According to investigators Lacey knew the victim and also knew he kept cash and guns handy. One of those guns, a pistol, was found at Cordellís grandfatherís home. Mathes says Vance was beaten in the back of the head with a rock before the pair stole a truck and two 4-wheelers. Both men face charges of first degree murder, theft and aggravated robbery charges as well as evading arrest. Mathes says more charges are pending as the investigation continues.
