McDonnell Expected Back on Witness Stand Monday
The latest in the corruption trial of former Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell – he’s expected back on the witness stand Monday …He’s already spent two days emphatically denying any wrongdoing in his relationship with Jonnie Williams Sr. Asked what he thinks Williams wanted from him in exchange for extravagant gifts and loans, the former governor denied he ever promised anything improper to Williams and he never intended to defraud a bank or try to hide a corrupt relationship with Williams. While a key part of the defense is that McDonnell’s marriage was so strained, the couple was incapable of conspiring to break the law, McDonnell said he does not blame his wife. (LM)
